June 1, 2013, was the anniversary of Marilyn Monroe’s birthday. She would have been 87. She led a short but intense life. Did you know she was only 36 when she died? I remember the first time I realized that fact. I had already passed that number in my own life and paused to think how much she missed dieing so young. She was just a baby in the scheme of things.
It seemed fitting that Tonner Doll would introduce a special Marilyn in the collection at this time. Tropical is the newest doll in the Marilyn Monroe line. She is quite special. She has a specially printed fabric to match the outfit she wore in the movie “There’s No Business Like Show Business” dancing to the song “Heat Wave” Here’s a clip i found of her with the outfit on you tube. The film is grainy but you can see her outfit.
The doll has the great Marilyn sculpt- rooted blonde hair under that great straw hat, and of course the bright pink sequin ruffled underskirt.
