Halloween is always a fun time of the year. There’s dressing up, lots of candy, and a time to switch out your current doll display for your Halloween doll display.
I was doing some research online about dolls dressed in their Halloween finery when i found a very interesting section that involves Halloween and dolls. Seems like the holiday is not only for 3D dolls but paper dolls as well. Here’s a great paper doll I found that’s from the 1930’s. It comes complete with a costume as well as party wear.
And there’s always our favorite paper doll, Betsy McCall. – here’s a page from the McCall’s Magazine.
I even found a black and white paper doll from 1951.
A very unique paper doll – Kokeshi
From Wikipedia – Kokeshi are Japanese dolls, originally from northern Japan. They are handmade from wood, have a simple trunk and an enlarged head with a few thin, painted lines to define the face. The body has a floral design painted in red, black, and sometimes yellow, and covered with a layer of wax. One characteristic of kokeshi dolls is their lack of arms or legs. The bottom is marked with the signature of the artist.

Have a spooktacular week!!
