Hiya, everyone! The countdown is on. We’re mere hours away from lift-off for HCon. The girls (Julie and Jen O.) and I are leaving for Vermont bright and early tomorrow morning. Road trip! We’ve got our costumes, and of course, a Classic Rock playlist for the ride (yeah that right. Track 1 is ‘Bad to the Bone‘). The only thing left to do is to prepare YOU about what to expect as a Virtual Attendee!
The Con in May was my very first time covering a convention for our Virtual Attendees. And let me tell you I learned a lot! The great thing is that, due to your amazing feedback, I know what I have to do to make it EVEN BETTER!! I mean, it was pretty good, but this time, it will be GREAT! The thing is, I thought using one main medium (the blog) to bring Convention to you would be both best for you and for me, but it didn’t turn out that way because you all had to wait for me to attend each event, and then work up a blog post filled to the brim with media about it to “follow” the Con.
But thanks to the Great Kevin (@mediasres), I’ve learned a lot since then, and the reality is that Twitter and FB really lend themselves really well (much better, in fact!) to covering a LIVE event like this, and you’ll really get a better sense of the action that’s going on AS IT HAPPENS, instead of reading about it later. You dig?
So this year, I aim to bring more of a guerrilla, live-action feel to the Convention coverage, so what this means for you is that you won’t have to wait for the blog coverage. You can follow the Con on our Facebook page, and on Twitter (use #tonnercon hashtag; our Twitter handle is @tonnerdoll)! We’ll be FBing and tweeting live from each event, so you’ll be able to see the Event dolls right away, the crazy-fun costumes, and really get a sense of what it’s like to be right there.
For those of you new to Twitter, or not on Twitter at all, guess what?! Even if you’re not on Twitter, you can totally still follow the Tweeting action by clicking this link! For those who ARE ON Twitter, you can use this link as an interface if you want, and for those NOT on Twitter you can use this link to follow along the LIVE CON Coverage! People who are actually at the Con can even tweet the Convention, giving it a very well-rounded, LIVE feel. Pretty exciting, eh?
You’ll also be able to see all HCon videos on our YouTube Channel, so don’t forget to check that out, too! Of course, we’ll be uploading the links to the many videos from our YouTube Channel, but just so you don’t miss a lick of fun….
Additionally, of course, we’ll also be blogging, too! This is where you’ll find more in-depth details, such as the product info, and presentation descriptions, etc. But the great thing about this year is that you won’t have to wait for the blog posts to see the Event dolls, to see who is wearing what, or to know just what is going on. Instead, you’ll be able to follow along via our plentiful facets of Social Media.
So, I guess what I’m really saying is ‘Let the games begin!’
See you at the HCon, amigos, either virtually or actually!
