Kitty Collier™ Collection

Tiny Kitty Collier™ Collection
In a make-believe time and a tiny place, Tiny Kitty opens up her dress shop, which boasts the most beautiful clothing and accessories. Always the height of elegance, Kitty wears her highly detailed ensembles with great feminine flair.  Now collectors and fashion doll enthusiasts can enjoy the signature vintage style of Tiny Kitty Collier™, a 10" hard plastic miniature of the 18" favorite.  Tiny Kitty, like her 18" counterpart, has rotational shoulders, bent knees, swivel waist and rotational hip joints for many fun poses!  She is also offered as a dressed doll and has additional glamorous outfits that are available separately.

Kitty Collier™ is a trademark of the Tonner Doll Company, Inc.  All rights reserved.

Sculpt - Sculpted by Robert Tonner, Kitty was born from an original design.

Kitty Collier™ is a hard plastic and vinyl, similar in construction to Tyler Wentworth dolls, SEE Tyler Wentworth Section.

Hair - Kitty's hair is rooted with high-quality saran.  Hair styles are not recommended for any type of alteration.  See Tyler Wentworth Hair Section.

The following hair colors have been used:

  • Brunette (or Brown) - the standard brunette is a classic brown.
  • Cognac - Seen on the 'Basic Redhead'.
  • Pale blonde - light blonde.
  • Platinum
  • Golden Blonde
  • Raven - jet-black hair
  • 'Titian Red' -a strong and vibrant red color.

Make-up Artistry - Kitty's face is screened and painted similar in style to Tyler Wentworth.  See Tyler Wentworth section for details.

Construction Details - Perhaps the most important aspect to both the 10" and 18" Kitty Collier™ Collections are the fine attention to vintage details in her clothing that is not found anywhere else in comparable dolls of any size.  This is what has contributed to Kitty's runaway success along with her affordable pricing.

Accessories - Kitty Collier™ captures each outfit with perfect accessories that put the perfectionist on alert.  Hats are quite prevalent in the Kitty Collier™ Collections.

18" Kitty Collier™ Collection
In a make-believe time and place, Kitty opens up her dress shop, which boasts the most beautiful clothing and accessories. Always the height of elegance, Kitty wears her highly detailed ensembles with great feminine flair.  In 2000, Kitty Collier™ made her debut, marching onto the fashion doll scene as an unprecedented 18" full vinyl fashion doll with a vintage touch, bringing a breath of fresh air to collectors everywhere.  All Kitty Collier™ dolls have rooted hair and high quality inset eyes. Since 2003, Kitty Collier™ has had bent knees, swivel waist and rotational hip joints making her ever so pose able (for hours of fun play)!  All dressed dolls since 2001 come with a special 'Kitty Collier™' doll stand, but you can now purchase the stand separately for your earlier Kitty Collier™ dolls.

Kitty Collier™ is a trademark of the Tonner Doll Company, Inc.  All rights reserved.

Sculpt - Sculpted by Robert Tonner, Kitty was born from the porcelain sculpt used in the 'Decades of Fashion' Series and other dolls using this same head mold.  Robert's desire was to translate the sculpt into a vinyl doll that would represent a more affordable collectible for discriminating buyers.  For styles featuring the newest articulation, see Tyler Wentworth body construction details.

Kitty Collier™ is both a fully strung in vinyl and a vinyl/hard plastic articulated doll; both are very suitable for many poses.  Collectors drawn to 16-inch to 21-inch fashion dolls find Kitty quite to their liking.  Her fine quality is comparable to the full range of fashion dolls and Kitty is priced in the same range as many 16-inch fashion dolls, yet less expensive than larger dolls.  What collectors find so inviting about Kitty Collier™:

* Exceptional value for the price when compared to other dolls
* Robert Tonner's unique sculpt
* The appeal of a variety of both vintage and contemporary fashion doll clothing that fits her 18-inch body.  What draws most to Kitty is her intentional combination of a child-like face with an adult body that is strongly reminiscent of the 1950s glamour girl fashion dolls.  Robert Tonner is widely known through the industry as a respected authority on vintage fashion dolls, and it's no surprise that he collects and creates his own, too.

Hair - Kitty's hair is rooted with saran, although hairstyles are not designed to take down.  Tonner Doll Company does not recommend alteration of any of the hairstyles as they can result in unpredictable results.  (See Tyler Wentworth hair details).

In 2004, the following hair colors are available:

  • Brunette (or Brown) - the standard brunette is a classic brown.  This color is unchanged from the original 'Basic Brunette'.
  • Auburn - First used in 2002 and softer than the 'Titian' red seen on the original 'Basic Redhead'.
  • Pale blonde - light blonde as first seen in 2000 on the 'Basic Blonde' and 'Bridal Bliss', and again in 2001 on 'Picture Perfect' and 'My Blue Heaven'.
  • Platinum (Kitty KVI)
  • Raven - often confused with the 'Basic Brunette', this color actually is true black with a hint of blue in the tone.
  • 'Titian Red' - this is the shade of the original 'Basic Redhead'; it is a strong and vibrant red color.

Make-up Artistry - Kitty's face make-up varied in 2002 and like that year, collectors will notice differences in eye shadow and lip color.  Kitty's inset acrylic eyes are mostly dark blue; but occasionally, a new color will be introduced (ex.  'Scarlett O'Hara' Kitty made for Collector's United in August 2001 (green eyes), 2004's Kitty XVI (pale blue eyes, and Empress Kitty (brown eyes).

Construction Details - Perhaps the most important aspect to the Kitty Collier™ Collection is the fine attention to vintage details in her clothing that is not found anywhere else in comparable dolls of any size.  This is what has contributed to Kitty's runaway success along with her affordable pricing.

Accessories - Kitty Collier™ captures each outfit with perfect accessories that put the perfectionist on alert.
